What age is the play dough suitable for?

Dotty Dough is suitable for ages 3+ due to potential choking hazard.

What happens if my child eats/tastes the dough?

There are no toxic ingredients in the play dough however there is a high salt content so it is not recommended that you let your child eat it.

What is the lifespan of the dough?

Dotty Dough stored in a cool cupboard in an airtight container can last in excess of 6 months. What happens to it during playtime also has an effect on the lifespan if it takes a dive on the floor a few too many times you may want to replace your dough sooner.

How do you know when the dough has become unusable?

Your play dough will become softer than usual and sticky, this is a sign that it is no longer good for play.

What ingredients are in the dough?

My dough is made from all natural non-toxic ingredients; wheat flour, salt, cream of tartar, vegetable oil & colouring. All ingredients are kosher. Wheat flour is not suitable for celiac sufferers I do offer a gluten free variation too, please message me if you are interested.

Does the play dough stain?

Dotty Dough will not stain hands or surfaces however you may want to keep it away from cream carpets.

Can dough be removed from carpets?

Yes play dough can be brushed out of carpets with a stiff brush. Please see above. It is recommended that you use a protective mat.

What tests/certificates does your play dough have?

My handmade child’s dough is CE tested and conforms to EN71 which is the European standard for toy safety.

Can you cook, paint & varnish the play dough?

Yes it is possible to bake, paint and varnish your creations however for best results I recommend a salt dough recipe.

What happens when the colours get mixed up?

The lifespan of the play dough won’t be affected if the colours mix, it is possible to mix primary colours to create a new colour, however excessive mixing will lead to a brown coloured dough.

Does the glitter in the glittery dough come off on hands?

The glitter used in the glitter dough’s will come off on hands especially after first use. It is possible to remove it by washing hands or continuing to knead the dough.

What if pets eat play dough?

Due to the high salt content you should keep your play dough away from hungry pets who do not always have the sense not to eat it. Should your pet consume some and you are worried, seek advice.
